Obverse description The Samoan coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing the Southern Cross constellation of five stars above a coconut palm, surmounted by a radiant cross, and flanked by two olive branches; a scroll at the base bears the national motto in Latin script. The issuer name SAMOA and date 2020 are inscribed in the upper field, with ONE OUNCE to the left and 9999 SILVER to the right, both rendered vertically. The denomination 5 TALA appears in the lower field. The entire design is framed by a wide geometric border composed of interlocking angular motifs inspired by traditional Samoan siapo (tapa) patterns.
