| 背面描述 | A male javelin thrower depicted in full stride occupies the central field, rendered in a classical athletic style with a grass skirt, his right arm extended rearward gripping the javelin at the moment of release. A stylised rocky landscape appears in the mid-ground behind the figure, and an Olympic torch with flame is shown in the upper right field. The curved legend XXIV OLYMPIC GAMES arcs along the upper periphery, with the denomination $5 inscribed to the lower right of the central design and LIMA TALA along the lower portion of the field. |

Tokelau issued this coin under New Zealand's administrative authority — the territory has no mint of its own and no domestic currency in conventional use, making its commemorative program essentially an export product from the outset. The 1988 Seoul Games were the first Olympics held in South Korea, and the first since the 1980 Moscow boycott cycle to draw near-universal participation, including the return of both the United States and the Soviet Union to the same competition.
