Additional information

Tokelau, a non-self-governing territory administered by New Zealand, issued commemorative silver pieces in the early 2000s through arrangements that gave the atoll nation nominal issuing authority while New Zealand managed distribution. The pairing of Captain John Smith and Andrew Jackson on a single coin is an unusual curatorial choice — Smith as colonial Virginia's early promoter, Jackson as the seventh U.S. president and architect of Indian removal — with no obvious historical connection between the two beyond American mythologizing.

KM#32 is a low-mintage issue with limited secondary market depth. Collector interest tends to follow the Jackson association more than the Smith.
