Part of a broader Mucha series issued through the New Zealand Mint on behalf of Samoa — a country with no organic connection to the Art Nouveau movement but a reliable vehicle for high-premium collector releases. The Samoa licensing arrangement is purely commercial; these coins never circulate and are priced entirely on the bullion-plus-collectible premium model that dominated the 2010s commemorative market.
The triple-plating process — rhodium, rose gold, and yellow gold applied selectively — was a technically demanding production choice for that year, and finishing inconsistencies between individual pieces are not uncommon.
