备注

Bangladesh's 5 Taka notes are issued by the Government of Bangladesh rather than Bangladesh Bank — a distinction that matters. Under Bangladeshi law, notes below 10 Taka are government obligations, not central bank liabilities, a colonial-era administrative division inherited from the State Bank of Pakistan structure and before that from British India. The Finance Secretary's signature appears on this note rather than the Governor's.

By 2016 the 5 Taka note was already fighting a losing battle against the coin of the same denomination, introduced years earlier but never widely accepted in circulation.
