Beschrijving keerzijde The central device depicts a detailed relief image of the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge (now known as Bangabandhu Bridge), spanning the Jamuna River. The bridge's name, 'যমুনা বহুমুখী সেতু' (Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge), is inscribed in Bengali script along the upper arc. The year of issue appears in the lower field, flanked by the denomination expressed in both numeral and words in English ('FIVE TAKA') and Bengali ('৫ পাঁচ টাকা'). The composition of inscriptions in two scripts gives the reverse a bilingual character consistent with Bangladeshi coinage of the period.

Aanvullende informatie

Bangladesh's shift to stainless steel for this denomination in the mid-1990s followed years of problems with earlier cupronickel issues, which suffered accelerated corrosion in the country's humid subtropical climate. The three catalogued varieties — KM#18.1 through 18.3 — reflect minor die modifications made across the production run rather than any policy change.
