Beschrijving voorzijde The central vignette on the right half of the note presents the mihrab (prayer niche) of the Kusumba Mosque in fine intaglio line work, set against a guilloche underprint. A cluster of water lilies occupies the left portion of the face, providing a naturalistic counterpoint to the architectural motif. The bank title in Bengali script runs along the top, with the denomination rendered in Bengali numerals at each corner.

Opmerkingen

Bangladesh Bank's early taka series was issued against a backdrop of severe monetary instability — the country had only introduced the taka in 1972 after separating its currency from the Pakistani rupee following the Liberation War. By 1978, the government was still working to establish credibility in a note-issuing infrastructure that had been built almost from scratch under extraordinarily difficult conditions.

Pick 20 is among the shorter-lived designs in the series, replaced relatively quickly as the bank updated its security standards through the early 1980s.
