Obverse description Black intaglio on multicolour underprint. At centre, an oval vignette with a portrait of Antonio José de Sucre in military uniform, flanked on either side by large numeral '5' rosettes with guilloche patterns. Serial numbers and series letters printed in red at upper left and upper right. The issuer's title appears across the top, with 'SOCIEDAD ANONIMA' below, and 'CINCO SUCRES' in a solid band at the foot of the note; the imprint of the American Bank Note Company runs along the bottom margin.
