Beschrijving voorzijde	Dark intaglio-printed note with the bank title 'EL BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR / SOCIEDAD ANONIMA' across the top and 'CAPITAL AUTORIZADO 10,000,000 SUCRES' below; a central vignette of a seated allegorical female figure set against a landscape occupies the middle of the design, flanked on both sides by large numeral '5' counters within ornate guilloche frames. The place and date of issue appear at upper right, while the bearer clause 'PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR A LA VISTA CINCO SUCRES EN ORO Ó GIROS-ORO' runs along the lower centre. The printer's imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY' appears at the bottom margin.

Beschrijving keerzijde	Printed entirely in rose-red, the reverse is centred on the Ecuadorian coat of arms within an elaborate guilloche oval medallion enclosed by scrollwork borders. Large numeral '5' counters occupy the left and right margins within ornate frames, with 'BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR' arcing across the top. The denomination 'CINCO SUCRES' appears in a cartouche along the lower margin, above the printer's imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY' at the foot of the note.
