Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II DEI·GRA·REG·F·D
(Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description The classic Pistrucci design depicting Saint George, helmeted and in classical armour, mounted on a rearing horse and thrusting a broken lance downward to slay the dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The dragon, rendered in fine detail, writhes in the lower right field. The date appears in the exergue, flanked to the left by a small U mint mark and to the right by the engraver's initials B.P. The composition fills the field with dramatic movement and high-relief sculptural quality, framed by a milled border.
