Reverse description The reverse features the celebrated Benedetto Pistrucci design of Saint George, helmeted and on horseback, slaying the dragon with a broken lance at lower right, the dragon writhing beneath the rearing horse. The saint is depicted as a classical nude warrior with a billowing cloak, and the horse is rendered in vigorous action. The date appears in the lower exergue flanked by a mintmark to the left and Pistrucci's initials B.P. to the right. The design is set within a plain field with a milled outer border.
