| Beschrijving keerzijde | Uniformly printed in green, the reverse centres on a large circular vignette of the Peruvian National Coat of Arms, enclosed within an ornate guilloche border. Denomination numeral '5' appears in rosette cartouches to either side, and the inscription 'BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERU' is placed at the top, with 'CINCO SOLES DE ORO' in bold lettering across the lower margin. The P#70 series was issued during a period of relative monetary stability under the Odría government, when the sol de oro was still holding reasonable purchasing power before the inflationary pressures of the late 1950s took hold. Thomas De La Rue's involvement in Peruvian currency production was long-standing by this point — the relationship stretched back decades, and London-printed notes were the norm for the republic's higher-quality issues throughout the mid-century.
The watermark security on this series is modest by De La Rue's own standards of the period, reflecting the note's low face value rather than any lapse in production.
