| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by two standing figures in devotional posture flanking a central element, likely representing the Holy Blood relic veneration associated with Mantua. A prominent countermark depicting the laureate head of Virgil — the poet and symbol of Mantua — is applied to the center of the coin, partially obscuring the underlying design. The surrounding circular legend reads TABER SANG XPI IESV (Tabernacle of the Blood of Christ Jesus), rendered in Latin characters within a beaded border. The entire composition is executed in the crude, high-relief style characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
