| Obverse description | Crowned shield of Milan bearing the Visconti biscione (a coiled serpent devouring a child), displayed upon a cartouche adorned with laurel branches at either side. A royal crown surmounts the shield. Mint initials appear in the exergue below the shield. The circular Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery, reading the abbreviated titles of Joseph II as Holy Roman Emperor, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia, and Duke of Milan. |
