Obverse description Central device features a snow lion passant rearing amid stylized rocky terrain and swirling waves, set against a backdrop of three mountains surmounted by a billowing cloud finial at the peak. Two radiant sun symbols flank the central mountain in the upper field, with additional scrolling cloud formations occupying the left and right fields. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous border of raised beads running along the coin's periphery. The composition is rendered in a traditional Tibetan artistic style with deeply incised, bold relief.

Reverse description The reverse presents a central circular medallion bearing the principal Tibetan inscription in three lines within the field, surrounded by an eight-petalled lotus or foliate border containing additional Tibetan legends arranged in segments around the circumference. The overall layout follows a mandala-like arrangement, with the date references to the 16th Rabjung cycle and regnal year distributed among the surrounding panels. Dot punctuation marks, appearing at various positions (denoted A, B, and C in catalogues), serve as distinguishing variety markers. The entire design is contained within a plain inner circle and an outer beaded border.
