Obverse description Central device of the Triratna (Triple Gem) enclosed within a square cartouche bearing Tibetan inscriptions denoting the denomination and reign year. The square cartouche is in turn surrounded by the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Tibetan Buddhism (Ashtamangala), arranged in a circular border: a white parasol, a conch shell, a treasure vase, a victory banner, a dharma wheel, a pair of golden fish, an endless knot, and a lotus flower. The overall composition is tightly organized within the round field, reflecting the traditional Tibetan religious iconographic style employed on Ganden mint coinage.
