Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, modelled after the portrait die engraved by Conrad Heinrich Küchler. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detailing to the hair, laurel wreath, and drapery at the truncation. The circumferential legend GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA REX runs along the outer border in Latin characters. The field is flat and unadorned, with a toothed milling border encircling the entire design.

Additional information

Jersey issued this pewter 5 shillings piece in 2007 as part of a retrospective series revisiting historical denominations tied to the island's occupation-era coinage. The original 5 shilling denomination had no real circulation history on Jersey — the island operated largely on a French livre system until the 19th century — making this a commemorative denomination in the strictest sense, referencing a British monetary unit that never fully embedded itself in local commerce.
