Reverse description A large full-rigged sailing ship with billowing sails occupies the central field, rendered in fine detail with visible rigging, masts, and a flag at the masthead. Land is suggested on the right horizon, evoking the Bermudian coastline. The legend BERMUDA arcs across the top of the field, with the denomination 5 to the left and S. to the right flanking the ship. Below the vessel, the date 1808 appears above the inscription ANNO DOMINI along the lower arc, all within a milled border.
