Opmerkingen

Somaliland's self-declared independence in 1991 was recognized by no sovereign state, and that status hadn't changed by 1996. Issuing commemorative banknotes was, among other things, a way of performing statehood — producing physical instruments that looked and functioned like a national currency even without international monetary recognition. Whether this note ever circulated meaningfully is doubtful; the Somaliland shilling economy at the time was overwhelmingly driven by higher denominations printed in much larger runs.

Pick 14 is one of the more obscure entries in the Baanka Somaliland series, and documentation on print quantities remains thin.
