Uganda's post-Amin economic wreckage shaped this entire series. By 1982, the country was still absorbing the consequences of Idi Amin's expulsion of the Asian business community in 1972 and the subsequent collapse of commercial infrastructure — the shilling had lost most of its practical purchasing power before these notes even reached circulation. A 5-shilling denomination was already marginal at issue.

De La Rue printed the series to a workmanlike standard. Nothing technically unusual about the production.
