Obverse description The Ugandan national arms, set against an outline map of Uganda, occupies the left portion of the note, with the motto scroll reading FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY at its base. An elaborate multicolour guilloche underprint in green, pink, and blue fills the field, centred by an oval vignette of interlocking rosettes enclosing a large numeral 5 in white relief. A smaller heraldic vignette appears at lower right, flanked by two signature lines inscribed GOVERNOR and SECRETARY respectively.

Reverse description A central oval vignette rendered in intaglio presents a woman harvesting ripe coffee berries from a laden branch, enclosed within a arched guilloche border in pink and green tones. Guilloche rosettes incorporating the numeral 5 are positioned at each upper corner, while stylised antelope figures flank a lower panel bearing the bilingual denomination inscription. The overall colour scheme is olive-green and rose-pink on a light ground.
