Obverse description The coat of arms of Uganda occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a drum and a sun motif, supported on the dexter side by a Uganda kob (antelope) and on the sinister side by a grey crowned crane, both standing on a grassy mound with foliage. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by raised dots, with FIVE SHILLINGS inscribed along the lower arc, all in raised Latin lettering.
