Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King George III occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed laureate hair and robe. The legend GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering. The rim is bordered by a continuous raised milling or dentilated edge. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical style characteristic of early nineteenth-century British regal coinage.
