Reverse description Hammered reverse of irregular rectangular flan bearing the Shi'a Muslim profession of faith rendered in bold nasta'liq script arranged in three lines across the field: 'La ilaha ill-Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah / Ali wali Allah,' affirming the uniqueness of God, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the saintly authority of Ali, in accordance with standard Safavid coinage practice. The inscription is deeply struck and exhibits the flowing calligraphic style characteristic of late Safavid hammered silver issues.
