| Obverse description | Oval-shaped hammered silver flan bearing a multi-line Persian inscription in bold naskh script filling the entire field. The central text records the ruler's name and titles, reading 'Banda-yi Shah-i Wilayat Husayn' (Servant of the King of Sanctity, Husayn), flanked by the formulaic royal titulature 'al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan wa al-Khaqan ibn al-Khaqan' (Sultan son of Sultan and Khagan son of Khagan). The mint name Tiflis (Tbilisi) and the AH date 1128 appear prominently within a central cartouche. The inscription is arranged in horizontal registers across the irregular flan, consistent with Safavid hammered coinage conventions. The surfaces show characteristic die-striking irregularities typical of late Safavid provincial mint production. |
