| Obverse description | Central field bears a four-line Persian inscription in naskh/nasta'liq script reading the royal mint legend: 'be-giti sekke-ye sahibqerani / zad az toufiq-e haqq Abbas-e thani' (By the grace of God, Abbas the Second struck the coin of the sovereign of the world). The mint name 'Zarb Tiflis' (struck at Tiflis) and the AH date 1072 appear in the lower portion of the central legend. The inscription is contained within a plain circular border, with the entire design executed in the bold, deeply struck hammered style characteristic of Safavid silver coinage. |
