| Reverse description | Central field contains a three-line Persian poetic verse in nastaliq script reading 'By the grace of God, Abbas the Second struck in the world the coin of the Lord of the Conjunction,' identifying the ruler and his royal epithet Sahib-Qiran. Below the central legend, the mint name 'Zarb Iravan' (struck at Yerevan) appears, followed by the AH regnal year in Eastern Arabic numerals. The inscription fills the entire flan in the characteristically fluid nastaliq style of Safavid coinage. A beaded border frames the design. The reverse is purely epigraphic, consistent with Safavid monetary tradition. |
