Obverse description The obverse features the central seal of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas set within a raised circular border, depicting a stylized figure of a man hammering, symbolizing productivity and industry. The legend 'ANG BAGONG LIPUNAN' (The New Society) arcs along the upper periphery of the scalloped field, while 'BANGKO SENTRAL NG PILIPINAS' encircles the central seal. The founding year '1949' appears within the seal border, flanked by small stars, and the date of issue is inscribed in large numerals at the base of the coin. The overall design reflects the iconography of the Marcos-era New Society program.
