| Obverse description | Unadorned bust of King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV facing right, depicted in modest attire with a plain collar, rendered in high relief with bold, naturalistic modelling. The royal legend TAUFA'AHAU TUPOU IV arcs along the upper periphery in large Latin capitals, flanked by a beaded border encircling the entire field.
