Obverse description The field is covered entirely with a finely engraved seigaiha (overlapping wave scale) pattern, creating a dense decorative ground. A lobed floral cartouche surrounds the central round hole, its scalloped outline rendered in relief. Four kanji characters reading 大日本 (Great Japan) are arranged around the upper arc of the field, with the reign date in kanji distributed around the lower arc, all set against the wave background. A beaded border encircles the outer rim. The overall composition is flat and geometric, characteristic of Taishō-era Japanese milled coinage.
