Obverse description Central field features the stylized Japanese character 五 (five) rendered in a bold, architecturally structured form with fine engine-turned vertical line engraving filling the body of the character. The numeral is flanked by a symmetrical wreath of rice stalks, their heads drooping gracefully outward at the top, bound at the base with a decorative ribbon. The entire design is enclosed within a rope-twist inner border, beyond which lies a raised rim, with no peripheral legend on this face.
