Popis líce	Facing bust effigy of Fra' Matthew Festing, 79th Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, rendered in high relief. The legend encircling the portrait reads FR. MATTHAEUS FESTING M.M.H.H., identifying the sitter by name and office. The design is executed in a formal, medallic style befitting the Grand Master's rank and dignity.

Popis rubu	The reverse depicts a devotional scene in which the kneeling Grand Master receives the Order's banner from St. John the Baptist, patron saint of the Order, rendered in a classically inspired allegorical composition. The circumferential legend reads SVB HOC SIGNO MILITAMVS, a traditional motto of the Order meaning 'Under this sign we serve', interspersed with decorative mullets. The denomination 5 SCVDI and the date 2009 appear within the legend.
