| Reverse description | St. John the Baptist, depicted standing and nearly nude with a camel-skin garment, presents a banner bearing the cross of the Order to the kneeling Grand Master, who receives it with bowed head in a posture of devotion and submission. The two figures are rendered in high sculptural relief against a polished field, with the banner staff held between them. The circumferential Latin legend 'SVB · HOC · SIGNO · MILITAMVS' ('Under this sign we serve') arcs along the upper border. The denomination '5 · SCVDI' is inscribed in the lower exergue. |
