5 Rupiah Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Indonesia

The PRRI was not a separatist movement in the conventional sense — it was a counter-government declared in February 1958 by dissident military commanders and civilian politicians based in Sumatra, directly challenging Sukarno's Jakarta administration. The rebellion drew covert CIA support during its brief operational peak, and the movement printed its own currency as part of establishing parallel governmental legitimacy. That effort collapsed quickly; by mid-1958 Indonesian Army forces had recaptured Padang, and the PRRI was effectively finished as a territorial power within a year.

Notes from this issue survived in very small numbers, most having been suppressed or destroyed during and after the military campaign.
