| 正面描述 | The upper left corner bears a cartouche enclosing a gibbon vignette, while the central upper field is reserved for the watermark area; the entire face is framed by intricate Javanese-style ornamental borders with guilloche underprint. | 备注 |
The 1957 series was one of the first to be printed entirely abroad under unified Bank Indonesia authority, after the colonial-era currency arrangements had been formally wound down. Thomas De La Rue handled the full run from their London works, a relationship Indonesia maintained for several denominations through this period while domestic printing infrastructure remained limited.
The 5 Rupiah sits at the low end of the series and almost certainly saw heavy everyday circulation, which accounts for why fine survivors are considerably harder to find than the higher face values from the same issue.
