In 2011, the Reserve Bank of India released a commemorative 5 rupee coin honoring the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore — Nobel laureate, polymath, and the man who wrote the national anthems of both India and Bangladesh. A small number escaped the mint as mules, struck without the denomination.
