Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted in the centre of the field, showing three of the four lions atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra and flanking animals. Below the capital, the motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate) appears in Devanagari script. The country names भारत (left) and INDIA (right) are inscribed along the respective sides of the field in a curved legend. The denomination ₹ 5, incorporating the Indian Rupee symbol, is prominently displayed at the bottom of the field.
