Obverse description The Ashoka Lion Capital, India's national emblem, occupies the center of the field, depicted in high relief with three lions visible atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and a horse. Immediately below the capital, the motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate, 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script. The denomination numeral '5' appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by the legend भारत (left, in Devanagari) and INDIA (right, in Latin) reading around the upper periphery, with रूपये (left) and RUPEES (right) completing the circular legend. The coin is framed by a distinctive denticulated border.
