Obverse description The Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka, India's national emblem, is depicted centrally in the field, showing three lions atop an abacus adorned with a Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a horse and bull in relief. Immediately below the capital appears the national motto in Devanagari script, 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs'). The legend 'भारत' in Devanagari arcs along the left periphery and 'INDIA' in Latin script along the right periphery. The denomination '₹ 5', incorporating the official Indian Rupee symbol, is prominently displayed in the lower field.
