| Beschrijving voorzijde | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, rendered in Arnold Machin's celebrated portrait depicting the Queen with an elegant upswept coiffure and a small tiara, her neck and shoulders draped. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left field and 'SEYCHELLES' along the right field, both in raised Latin capitals, while the date '1972' appears in the lower exergue. The mirrored proof fields provide a sharp cameo contrast between the frosted effigy and the deeply polished background. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A scenic composition engraved by Norman Sillman occupies the left and lower portions of the field, depicting a tall coconut palm in the foreground, rocky island outcrops to the left, and two sailing vessels on the calm sea in the middle distance. In the lower foreground, a large Aldabra giant tortoise is shown in profile, a symbol emblematic of the Seychelles. The denomination '5' appears in large numerals at the upper right, with the legend 'RUPEES' in bold raised capitals directly below it. |

The Seychelles issued this proof series in the years immediately preceding independence from Britain, granted in June 1976. The timing was deliberate — the colonial administration commissioned prestige proof sets partly as a revenue instrument targeting overseas collectors, a common practice among smaller British territories in the 1970s as the market for such issues was actively expanding. The .925 silver specification placed these firmly in the collector tier rather than any circulating role.
