Reverse description The Sri Lanka national emblem — a lion passant holding a sword, set upon a stylized sun-ray base with a bo-leaf border — is depicted in the upper center of the inner field. Immediately below the lion, the denomination inscription appears in three scripts: Sinhala, Tamil, and Latin ('FIVE RUPEES'), flanked on the right by the large numeral '5'. The country name 'SRI LANKA' appears in Latin script on the left border and in Sinhala and Tamil scripts along the upper arc, with the date '2007' incused in the exergue.
