Beschrijving keerzijde The truncated bust of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the eminent Indian political thinker and philosopher, is depicted facing slightly left of center in high relief against a polished field. The peripheral legend curves around the upper portion of the coin in Devanagari script reading 'पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय की जन्मशती', flanked by small star ornaments. Continuing around the lower periphery in Latin script, the legend reads 'BIRTH CENTENARY OF PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAYA'. The centenary dates '1916-2016' are inscribed in the lower central field beneath the bust.

Aanvullende informatie

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, born 1916, was the principal ideological architect of what he called "Integral Humanism" — a political philosophy he articulated in a series of 1965 lectures that became the foundational doctrine of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, forerunner to today's BJP. He died under circumstances that remain disputed: found on railway tracks near Mughal Sarai station in February 1968, officially ruled an accident, though the case was never conclusively closed. The centenary commemorative program of 2016 coincided with a significant BJP electoral resurgence, lending the issue an unmistakably political dimension beyond routine numismatic commemoration.
