| Obverse description | The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, showing three lions mounted on an abacus adorned with a dharma chakra. Immediately below the capital, the national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate) is inscribed in Devanagari script. The large numeral '5' appears in the lower field, flanked on the left by the country name 'भारत' in Devanagari and on the right by 'INDIA' and '5 RUPEES' in Latin script, both legends running along the rim. |
