Aanvullende informatie

The United Nations turned fifty in 1995, and dozens of member states issued commemoratives to mark the occasion — Seychelles among them. The UN's jubilee coincided with a period of institutional strain: the organization was absorbing the failures of Somalia and Rwanda while simultaneously expanding peacekeeping commitments across the Balkans. The commemorative program carried on regardless, producing a wave of issues whose collective mintages remain poorly documented.

Seychelles had joined the UN in 1976, the same year it gained independence from Britain.
