| Beschrijving voorzijde | The coat of arms of the Republic of Seychelles occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield depicting a coco-de-mer palm tree and a tortoise, supported on either side by two swordfish. Above the shield sits a helm with a mantling, and a white-tailed tropicbird as crest. A scroll at the base bears the national motto FINIS CORONAT OPUS. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES runs along the periphery, flanked by two small pellets at the lower field. |

The United Nations turned fifty in 1995, and dozens of member states issued commemoratives to mark the occasion — Seychelles among them. The UN's jubilee coincided with a period of institutional strain: the organization was absorbing the failures of Somalia and Rwanda while simultaneously expanding peacekeeping commitments across the Balkans. The commemorative program carried on regardless, producing a wave of issues whose collective mintages remain poorly documented.
Seychelles had joined the UN in 1976, the same year it gained independence from Britain.
