| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central device depicts the neoclassical facade of the Allahabad High Court building, surmounted by a flagpole, rising dramatically from the pages of an open book spread across the lower field — symbolising the foundation of justice in law. The date range 1866 - 2016 is inscribed below the central device in the lower field. A bilingual commemorative legend encircles the design: the upper arc carries the Devanagari inscription, while the lower arc bears the English legend, separated by bullet ornaments. The overall composition conveys the institution's sesquicentennial heritage. |

The Allahabad High Court, established in 1866 under the High Courts Act of 1861, is one of the oldest high courts in India and has jurisdiction over Uttar Pradesh — the most populous state in the country. The 150th anniversary issue was part of the Reserve Bank of India's ongoing commemorative circulation program, which has produced dozens of similar five-rupee pieces honoring institutions, anniversaries, and public figures since the 1990s. Most see negligible actual circulation, bought up immediately by collectors and government gift sets.
