Obverse description The Indian State Emblem — the Lion Capital of Ashoka — is depicted at centre, showing three lions passant guardant atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and a horse in relief. Immediately below the capital, the national motto in Devanagari script reads 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Truth Alone Triumphs). The large numeral '5' appears prominently in the lower field, with the denomination legend 'RUPEES' arcing along the right rim in Latin script and 'रुपये' along the left rim in Devanagari. The country name 'भारत' appears to the upper left and 'INDIA' to the upper right of the emblem.
