Obverse description Central field features a molded depiction of a tall coconut palm tree leaning slightly to the right, set against a stylized tropical seascape with horizontal wave lines indicating water and a low shoreline in the lower field. The design evokes the natural landscape of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. The legend KEELING- / COCOS Is appears to the right of the palm in two lines, with the date 1968 inscribed along the lower rim. All elements are rendered in dark relief against the red plastic field.

Surrounding this central motif is an elaborate sunburst or rosette ornamental pattern composed of radiating elongated oval loops arranged in two concentric registers, filling the entire field to the rim. The geometric decorative design is molded in dark relief against the red plastic ground, lending the token a distinctive decorative appearance.
