Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large red-brown intaglio vignette of King Parakramabahu, the celebrated medieval Sinhalese monarch, rendered in a standing pose within an ornate rectangular frame surrounded by fine geometric guilloche border work. The denomination in Sinhala and Tamil scripts appears to the right of the central vignette, with 'FIVE RUPEES' inscribed in English at the lower left. The issuing bank name in Sinhala script is printed along the upper border, and the numeral '5' appears in dark green at each corner.
