| Obverse description | Central field features the heraldic shield of the English East India Company, quartered with a cross and bearing a central escutcheon, surmounted by a lion rampant to left holding a crown in its forepaws. The bold circular legend reads ENGLISH EAST INDIA COMPANY· in Latin characters, arranged around the periphery of the coin. The design is executed in a robust relief typical of early nineteenth-century Indian Presidency coinage. |
