| 背面描述 | The central vignette presents a scene of three traditional Maldivian fishing dhows at full sail on open water, with crew visible aboard the nearest vessel, executed in multicolour intaglio. A decorative panel of tropical flowers and foliage occupies the upper left corner, while the large guilloche numeral '5' is printed in blue at the lower left. The issuing authority name runs in bold letterpress along the bottom margin, with the denomination in English at upper right. |

| 备注 |
Thomas De La Rue had printed Maldivian currency continuously from the early independence period, and this 1990 issue continued that relationship. The Maldives Monetary Authority itself was only established in 1981, replacing the earlier Maldivian Monetary Authority, so by 1990 this was still a relatively young central bank consolidating its note-issuing framework.
The P#16 designation places it within a short series that was superseded fairly quickly as the MMA moved toward enhanced security designs through the mid-1990s, limiting the effective circulation window for this particular type.
